Susan Alveshere is an international award winning artist who has artwork featured in museums and shows all over the world since 1986. She has been highlighted in top magazines in Milan, Paris, Hong Kong, New York, and London among other places. Susan writes for national and international publications for fashion and has authored two books for fine art. She attended Bethel University for Fine arts and the International Academy of Design and Technology for Fashion Design.
In the early years Susan started out being the only person known to draw on black paper (Arches Cover Black). This unique way of drawing is vastly different from other artists where she uses bright colors and different techniques of layering color until it is thick and waxy. It was not until the early 90's that it was realized her drawing techniques were a natural reaction to her learning disability of dyslexia. Since that time she has shared her knowledge by teaching with the National Endowment of the Arts through different university and college venues as well as non-profits.
Paralyzed in 2003, Susan was diagnosed with ADEM a rare disease and disorder much like Multiple Sclerosis. Now in remission, this physical challenge has been a blessing to others as Susan enjoys volunteering in the community, mentoring others and sharing with disabled individuals to teach them how to think of their disabilities in a different light, as potential strengths.
Susan has written two instructional books for colored pencil based on her techniques, Colored Pencil Dynamics Book One for the Beginner and Colored Pencil Dynamics Book Two for the Intermediate. Susan is a member of Fashion Group International in Seattle and the Colored Pencil Society. She lives in the Pacific Northwest where she continues to volunteer for her community and church.
