"Batik Elegance"

Every once in a while someone will come along and change your life. In the summer of 2001, I met such a person. This person sparked something inside of me that I had long forgotten about. This spark grew into a flame, and this flame drew me back to my drafting table. I had all but forgotten my creative abilities until this friend helped me to remember who I was, and what my talents were. It was not in what they said necessarily, and it was not even that I had known this person for very long. But this short relationship has changed my life forever.

I drew “Batik Elegance” with this person in mind. As quickly as this person entered my life they also withdrew. My friend passed away a few days after I finished this drawing, which shook me greatly. I will forever cherish the wisdom, insight, and artistic creativity that was shared with me. I thank God for the short amount of time that I was blessed with to spend in their company.
